About Us
For more than 150 years the Derbyshire Times has been the voice of its community.
During that time the paper has recorded the highs and lows of life - and been witness to the entrepreneurial skills which have contributed to the prosperity of the area: from the manufacture of the boring machines which helped create the London Underground and the Channel Tunnel to the invention of the first ever 'disposable nappy'.
Now we are launching a competition to recognise the skills of our 21st century innovators.
The Derbyshire Times' Business Awards will recognise the best within our community - from companies to individuals who are making their mark in what we all recognise are challenging economic times.
The awards are just part of the way that we support and campaign for the towns and villages that we continue to serve.
Over the years we have given our backing to major fund-raising campaigns - from cancer support to families in need after falling victim to tragedy in their lives.
The Derbyshire Times is also involved in organising successful job fairs which help find work for the citizens, young and old, within our circulation area and beyond.
As well as our printed publications - the Derbyshire Times is the UK's fourth biggest selling weekly newspaper - we also set the news agenda locally online with our popular website www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk which offers unrivalled coverage of all the breaking news and sports across the area.
